On Friday a few of the Reserve staff, as well as Dave Feliz the Reserve Manager at Elkhorn Slough NERR, were leaving Grizzly Island to return to Rush Ranch when we saw a massive black cloud ahead. Rush Ranch was in the middle of a drenching rain storm, and we drove right into it. Huge raindrops, thunder, lightning – it was not a typical California rainstorm. Of course, we quickly checked nerrsdata.org! The storm lasted about an hour and half and dropped a total of 17 mm (0.67 inches) of rain.
